Envision App @Dericksmith

@DERICKSMITH

Born in New York, raised in Ireland, Derick Smith initially began a career in design before moving on to chemical photography, which resulted in his first solo exhibition in New York (2006). Later, he began to experiment with sculpture and painting after graduating from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin (2012) and has since exhibited in national and international group exhibitions.

There are inherent limitations within any material, a defined set of boundaries regarding how it moves and acts and reacts against another material. Working with this physical vocabulary I seek to arrange these phrases in dynamic ways, to investigate a language of possibility by drawing form outwards rather than overlaying.

When successful, a form or image can be distinguished which pulls away from the paint. The chosen colours are used to arouse a sense of otherness, of something not evocative of advertising or branding, which is perhaps where such palettes are more widely employed. Such forms can absorb the attention for a moment before the illusion fades and the awareness of the physicality of the paint as an object draws the viewer back. It is this dialogue, this toggling back and forth between image and object, this momentary suspension or interruption, which is most readily pursued.

@LEWAN_ART

As a growing artist, my fields of interest grow along with me. I am currently going into my junior year of college at Bloomsburg University majoring in Art Studio, and minoring in Art History and Psychology. Through my years here thus far my life experiences and constant growth of artistic knowledge has influenced my art and style. Having the opportunity to learn and work with many different mediums has allowed me to be able to combine different abilities and expand my own work ethic and style. My style has grown from someone who just likes to draw with charcoal to someone who can artistically express herself through printmaking, digital graphics and paint. Art has allowed me to express my emotions and feelings through many different processes, and because of that I am aiming towards obtaining my masters degree in Art Therapy. Art has always been a central line all throughout my life, a steady gleaming rock I could always turn to as a comfort. To have a job where I can help children and adults through tough times through the artistic process that has saved my own life, would be like a dream come true. For me, art is all about the process through which it is made and the emotions one endures throughout the making of the piece. I like to leave pieces slightly unfinished, so the viewer can see the marks that are made to get to the final product. The pencil marks and jagged lines show the energy and thinking process the artist is going through, and it leaves much of the interpretation to the viewer. I like to have this sort of question mark when I am finished as to whether is it truly finished, or was it left intentionally like that. What lies beneath a finished painting is more interesting to me then a wholly finished painting within itself. From a completed painting you can derive the direction and intention the artist had, and from there one can judge whether or not that goal or direction was reached. Within my art lies the story of how it was made, and what was felt through every stroke of paint applied. I hope that through my many years to come of learning and experience my art will grow stronger with me.

@LUCASPARBO

I have been a bit of a nomad through my life, but finally can call Los Angeles my home. This is my third stint in LA and planning to stay put here while I grow and cultivate my creative energies here. My love for the arts began when I was in my teens and was resurrected in my adult life.

What inspires me?

As an artist, I love the way creative expression allows me to connect to others through my work. My abstract acrylic paintings display various uses of paint to highlight color and texture. My photographs depict the beauty of the night sky through motion.

Nature and art inspire me to be a better artist, but the true inspiration lies within myself.

At the age of 17 she got her first digital camera and started photography as her favorite hobby. In 2015, she majored in Visual Information Design at the University of Las Americas Puebla. With a huge passion for landscape and travel photography, Lucero has traveled to more than 40 countries seeking out and capturing some of the most beautiful and inspirational locations in the world. @RICKYWATTS

Born, 1980 in San Francisco, California.

Ricky Watts' obsession with art began at an early age. As a boy, he loved comics, especially doodling his own. Most often they involved glorious battles between the U.S. Army and nuclear dinosaurs. In grade school, he would draw his peers names in exchange for bartered items. By high school, his entrepreneurial efforts were funding his weekly lunch allowance. High school was also when Watts fell for his first love, graffiti. Fascinated with spray paint as a medium, he was fully engaged in painting elaborate pieces under the cover of night. After graduation, he traveled up and down the west coast, painting large scale murals and establishing himself as a premier artist in the scene.

@VALERIESAVCHITS_ARTIST

I was born in 1993 and raised in a post-soviet society where I learned to appreciate the official notion of beauty and how to strive for harmony. Under the communist regime, any disproportionality or deviation from established norms within existing ideologies in our community wa absolutely unacceptable and subsequently did not fit into the overall picture of the world. In my body of work can be seen references and major cultural or political moments from history, film, and literature - interweaving them with today's values, standards, and beliefs I aim to encourage viewers to consider, react, and respond to topics such as who we have or haven’t yet become; how our views of the future have been shaped by our past; why imposing unanimity is the enemy of progress and unstable like house of cards; how aesthetics can be made to move in the opposite direction from the norms and eventually become a ‘reversed aesthetics’ and what issues we face being in the center of ethnographic multiculturalism. I use a wide array of materials and techniques in my work including oil paint, spray paint, rubber, concrete and neon installations. A color palette that I use carries a very ambiguous meaning as I prefer not to label things and associate one particular colour with what we consciously associate it with. I also studied work of Jean Michel Basquiat, Marlene Dumas, Edouard Manet, Francis Bacon, Cy Twombly, Tracey Emin, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, a well as Russian writers and poets such as Vladimir Nabokov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, and Vladimir Mayakovsky. Their work articulates the spirit of freedom that I always craved for.

@CHADKNIGHT

Chad was born in Westerville Ohio, a very unlikely place to discover his first love, skateboarding. After a 20 year career as a professional skateboarder, Chad struggled to find a career to transition into that ha was equally passionate about. During a stint as a skatepark designer, he was introduced to 3D. 3D offered the same creative outlet, with infinite potential that skateboarding did. It allowed him to learn by trying, to do it when and where he wanted. It allowed him to get lost in it, just like skateboarding did. 3D became Chad’s new love. A year ago, he decided to explore the creative side of 3D and set out to do a 365 day adventure to use 3D as a visual diary. 500 days later he continues to share his life daily on Instagram through 3D art.

When I asked for Purpose in my art, these mandalas came forth. I see no end to their emergence. They are created as moving meditations through a fusion of technique and flow. @WRECKXCREATION

John-Claude Saldaña was born May 2, 1986. Since he was a child, John always had a wild imagination. His earliest years in art began with endless doodles on literally anything he could get his hands on.

As he grew into his teenage years, John began to dabble into other areas of art such as graphic design and cartoon illustration. It wasn't until November 15, 2014 when John first picked up painting. His girlfriend had randomly purchased him a beginner's paint set. "It was never really interesting to me." , John said. "The idea of having to mix the right colors and follow color wheel seemed like such a hassle.. That is why I stuck to pen and pencils for so long."

After that pivotal moment that November night, John knew that painting and art would be his destiny. Since 2014, John has created and sold hundreds of paintings and exhibited at numerous shows and events.

@RANSOME_ARTISTRY

My name is Jesse Ransome. I am a graffiti artist by trade with 20 years experience under my belt. I own and operate a business called Ransome Artistry with my dog and Chan. I use aerosol and paint markers as my mediums. When I was a kid, my entire room was painted top to bottom with drippy tags. Oh and I work best at night. I guess that's about it.... nope wait. I forgot that I've also been arrested for painting, and that seems counterintuitive to me considering it's just paint, but I digress.
I hope you love my art as much as I do.
